Is your backend ready for more traffic?

Understand where your ecommerce backend may struggle as traffic and data volumes increase. We review the critical request paths and supporting systems, connect findings to available evidence and produce a prioritized plan for optimization and capacity testing. The audit package includes setup of our load-testing platform for the agreed environment and scenarios.

When this
work matters.

  • API responses slow down during promotions or as the catalog grows.
  • Adding infrastructure has not resolved recurring latency or failures.
  • You need a technical improvement plan before a launch or traffic increase.

How we
work through it.

Map demand and the critical flows

Review the architecture, deployment and expected traffic. Follow search, product, cart and order requests through the services involved. Agree the components, access and evidence available for the audit.

Inspect application and database work

Investigate expensive queries, repeated data access, indexes, locks and transaction boundaries. Review synchronous external calls, connection limits and work that grows with catalog or order volume.

Review caches, queues and failure handling

Check cache invalidation, missed-cache behavior and separation of public and private data. Review worker throughput, retry policies, duplicate processing and what happens when a dependency slows down.

Connect our load-testing platform

Set up our platform against the agreed test environment and configure scenarios around the critical request paths. Agree traffic levels and stop conditions with your team, then use the results alongside traces and metrics to investigate bottlenecks.

Turn findings into a testable plan

Use available traces, logs and metrics to assess likely impact. Separate observed problems from risks that still need an experiment. Prioritize changes, identify their owners and define how to verify each improvement.

What your
team takes away.

  • Our load-testing platform configured for the agreed environment and scenarios
  • Map of the reviewed request paths and dependencies
  • Findings tied to code, configuration or available runtime evidence
  • Prioritized optimization backlog with impact and dependencies
  • Observability gaps and a proposed capacity-test plan
  • Technical walkthrough for the team implementing the recommendations

Before
we begin.

Is this the same as load testing?

The audit combines code and architecture review with setup of our load-testing platform. We agree the environment, scenarios and traffic levels as part of the audit scope, and use test results to validate findings. Capacity conclusions apply to the tested conditions; they are not a blanket guarantee for all production traffic.

What access do you need?

Typically source code, relevant configuration and architecture information, plus agreed logs, traces and metrics. Database diagnostics can use restricted access. We document gaps when evidence is unavailable and arrange credentials through an agreed secure channel.

Can you audit without production access?

Yes, with an explicitly limited scope. Code, staging and saved diagnostics can reveal issues, but they do not reproduce every production condition. The report distinguishes confirmed findings from hypotheses and missing evidence.

Are optimization changes included?

The audit delivers findings and an implementation plan. Your team can apply them, or we can agree a separate optimization scope and verification step. Changes to production are not an automatic part of the audit.
